Helen Vinansky Snyder of Eastchester, NY passed away March 9, 2017 after a long illness. She was 86 years old. She was the wife of Richmond Field Snyder from Brooklyn NY who died in 1989, and the daughter of Mary Petrun and Michael Vinansky of Bridgeport Ct. Helen graduated from the University of Connecticut in Storrs, where she was active in school politics. Upon graduating she taught 1st and 2nd grade in Scarsdale NY at the Edgewood School. It was a job she loved. She also enjoyed traveling and took a year Sabbatical in Kingston, Jamaica where she worked directly with the Supervisor of Education for several Caribbean Islands. Helen was kind and generous and possessed the class and sensibilities of a Lady from an earlier era. We will miss her warm smile. She is survived by her sister Dorothy and brother-in-law James Baker of Hyattsville Md., cousin and friend Patricia Roth and her husband Bob of Somers NY, along with several nieces and nephews from her late husband’s family the Haydocks and the Mullers who considered Helen the Matriarch and glue of the family. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated the Immaculate Conception Church, 53 Winter Hill Rd., Tuckahoe NY followed by Helen’s burial next to her husband at the Friends Meeting House in Purchase, NY. Friends may call Friday, March 31, from 5-7 pm at the Ballard-Durand Funeral Home, 2 Maple Avenue at South Broadway, White Plains, NY.
