Florence (Waugh) Murphy

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Florence M. Murphy age 92, announces her passing on November 19th, 2023, peacefully at her home of 62 years in Hawthorne, NY, surrounded by family. Florence was the beloved daughter of James and Margaret Waugh, born August 20th, 1931, in the Bronx, NY. She married the love of her life Joseph Murphy on February 14th, 1953 and together they raised 8 children.

Florence is survived by her children Peggy (George), Jimmy, Tommy (Melissa), Danny, Dolly (Jerry), Evie, along with her sister Virginia. She leaves behind 7 grandchildren, Jaclyn, Dylan, Jerry, Ryan, Katelyn, Connor, and Matthew, along with 2 great-grandchildren Michael and Madelyn, who will all miss their ‘Nangie’ beyond measure.

Her true joy came from being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Florence loved spending time with family and friends. Florence took great pride in her home and would frequently be found gardening around the yard. She was loving, strong willed, and quick witted; attributes that will forever be remembered by all who knew her.

Florence is preceded in death by her husband Joseph and her sons Joseph and Kevin, along with her brothers James and Donald. Her memory will leave a profound imprint in the hearts of her loved ones.
