Catherine E. Malarkey

Catherine (Cathy) Elaine Malarkey, 85, died unexpectedly on December 12, 2019 in Purchase, New York. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 44 years, Thomas A. Malarkey, who died in 2018. She is survived by several cousins living in New York, New Jersey, Florida, Spain and Italy.

Cathy was born in Brooklyn. She retired from Texaco in 1998 where she held a position of Quality Analyst.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Greenwich on January 7, 2020, and the internment followed at St.Charles Cemetery in Amityville, New York.

Her many friends and extended family will always remember Cathy for her intelligence, compassion and numerous acts of kindness and love. She was a staunch supporter and advocate for the underprivileged and for those who she believed were treated unfairly. Her generous support and outreach extended to several diverse causes and organizations during her lifetime. Cathy had a special admiration and affection for the staff of Memorial Sloan Kettering and endowed a Lectorship to bring nationally prominent research scientists for interactive visits. She will be missed by so many who were fortunate enough to have known her.
