Sincere condolences to Barbara & the entire McDonald family. Syd was my second dad, he loved & treated me like a daughter, always supports & encourages me. Then Jamie came along, and incidentally proposed to me on dad’s birthday and when I shared the news with him he was overjoyed and told us this was the best birthday present ever! And that he’d gained another son. We will cherish the memories and cling to the blessed hope because out of these ashes, beauty will rise! For joy comes in the morning! So RIP dad and may the light perpetual shine upon you.
    Much love to the family.

When the Lord calls our loved ones home, he leaves a gift of memories in exchange. Memories are the legacy of love.

I cannot take away the pain…. but I am here for you.

    Love always

A very true gentle kind and sincere Christian. Bro. Mc I remember you when, as a pre-teen I was dying to reach teenager so I could be a part of your dynamic youth sabbath school class at North Street. My friends Donnette Geri and I decided we were “youth” and joined your class before we “graduated” from junior sabbath school. It was a pleasure ,we looked forward to sabbath each week just for your lively class discussions. It was such a joy connecting with you again at first Whiteplains SDA. You will be greatly missed. You always have such kind and encouraging words. Rest In Peace till that great getting up morning.

Such terribly sad news to hear of the passing of Elder Sydney McDonald. We will cherish our memories of Elder McDonald, who some of us affectionately called dad. He was a kind, gentle, elegant and principled man. Our sincere condolences to Sis McDonald and the entire family. We look forward to the day when there will be no more death or crying, when God himself will wipe away our tears. Until then, we hold on to precious memories.

It is not often that we meet people who touch our lives without even knowing that they have said and done something that have made a lasting impression.

We have not known Elder Sydney McDonald for very long, but we have admired his quiet and gentle spirit, (the one that Jesus wants us to have), his dignified bearing and pleasant smile.

We know that death is sure, but we cannot get accustomed to the void it leaves. Lady McDonald, our hearts reach out to you! Elder Kirk, Sandra, Sydney, Morgan and the rest of the family, please take comfort in the assurance that one day, very soon, death and dying will be no more! Jesus is coming soon to put an end to all this grief and loss. Until then, weep, if you must, miss him, as you should, cherish his memory, as only you can do; but let’s prepare and look forward to the great gettin’ up mornin’.
    Blessings,
    The Newton Howson Family

Elder Sydney McDonald has enriched our lives in a quiet and dignified way. During this time of great loss, we realise how limiting our words can be. May you hear those words that we cannot speak and know that our hearts, our thoughts and prayers are with you. Please know that you are not alone in remembering a wonderful person that meant so much to all of us!

We shall see our Loved Ones again.

    Farewell!

    Until The Great Resurrection Morning!

Regards and Blessings to the McDonald family, relatives and friends,

    From The Pierre-louis family

Dear Sis. McDonald, Kirk, Patrice and the entire McDonald Family,

Regretfully, I’m unable to convey my condolences in person, but I want you all to know I recite your names in my prayers during this very difficult time.

Elder McDonald was one of greatest men that ever walked the streets of Harlem and entered the doors of the City Tabernacle Seventh-day Adventist Church. His love for God and people truly shined through every interaction we shared; his hugs and words of encouragement were always meaningful and were expressions of his concern for our family throughout the many years we knew him. He knew the Word and lived it by extending his kindness and compassion to all he encountered. Truly a rare gem, Elder McDonald’s wisdom, style and Christian comportment will be missed.

May we all cherish those fond memories of him until that great day, knowing we’ll meet again and he will wear a crown in His Father’s kingdom!

    Lovingly,
    Tricia Ferrell & family

Elder Sydney McDonald has been one of the most genuine persons that I have ever met. His authenticity as a Christian has been remarkable. I have been truly blessed to have met him and he made such an impression on myself and my husband Humphrey and our daughters Catania and Cleo. We will forever remember that kind gentle spirit and that loving sweet disposition, that Christ likeness that we’re all required to cultivate. What an example! So to sister Mac, Kirk, Sandra, Patrice, Sydney, Morgan and the extended family please know that we mourn with you too and although his presence will be greatly missed, be comforted by the fact that God saw it best to call him home at this time. His work here was done. Let’s all be faithful so we can meet him again in the great bye and bye! Sleep on Bro. Mac. Until then!
