Nancy P. Corpina of Scarsdale, NY passed away on February 22, 2021 at the age of 78. She was born Nancy Patricia Bennett on April 2, 1942 to Nancy and John Bennett of the Bronx, New York. Nancy made many great friends during her early childhood and cherished those relationships throughout her entire life. Nancy attended St. Helena's High School and later graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas College in 1966 with a B.S. and Masters in Education. Following college, Nancy taught elementary school for 8 years in New York and Connecticut. In 1963, Nancy assisted in founding The Bennett School in Colombia South America with her dear friend Yolanda Mosquera. For 30 years, Nancy held the position of Director of Recruitment at Bennett, hiring US teachers to relocate and teach at The Bennett School. Fifty-eight years later, the school that bears her maiden name continues to thrive as a Pre-K through 12th grade private institution.
In 1967, Nancy was introduced to Joseph B. Corpina of the Bronx, NY. They married in 1968, and moved from the Bronx to Scarsdale, NY. They had 2 sons, Joseph Jr in 1970 and Jonathan in 1972. Nancy devoted countless hours to her volunteer work throughout Westchester County, including at Iona Grammar School, the Scarsdale Campaign for Peace and the Scarsdale School of Language Arts. In 1982, her son Joseph died in an accident. As a result, she, along with her husband, established The Joseph B. Corpina, Jr. Memorial Foundation which provides grants to local hospitals in order to help sustain and improve the quality of life for children who have sustained a traumatic brain injury. In addition, the foundation built and continually funds a Creative Arts Center at Iona Grammar School in honor of her son. Nancy was instrumental and active in the Foundation for 35 years.
Nancy is survived by her ex-husband Joseph, her son Jonathan, daughter-in-law Danielle, and three granddaughters Sofia, Cecily, and Olivia whom she loved and cherished very much. She is also survived by her only sibling, John Bennett, his wife Janet and their four children. Nancy loved the company of her African Grey parrot Merv. She enjoyed listening to oldies, playing both piano and guitar, writing poetry and reading novels. Nancy loved the ocean and spending her summers down at the Jersey shore. Rest in Peace Mom, we will love you forever.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, a memorial service will be held at a later date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, we request you please make donations to The Joseph B. Corpina, Jr. Memorial Foundation. Donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 178-H, Scarsdale, NY 10583.

And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by;
And the wheel’s kick and the wind’s song and the white sail’s shaking,
And a grey mist on the sea’s face, and a grey dawn breaking.
I must down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.
I must down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull’s way and the whale’s way where the wind’s like a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick’s over. (Sea Fever – John Masefield)
Love you always Aunty Patty! Rest in Peace.
