Ballard-Durand Funeral Home Installs Heritage Plaque
White Plains, NY – Matthew J. Fiorillo of The Ballard-Durand Funeral Home announced today that he has installed “The Heritage Plaque” created by the Bronze Division of Matthew’s International or Pittsburgh, PA. The solid bronze plaque was affixed to a foot-long granite marker provided by the DeNigris Monument Company and placed on the walkway to the front door of the funeral home for visitors to appreciate. It displays the history of the funeral home as well as photos of its owners. “Time and time again my staff and I are asked about the building - whether it was once a private home, and about who lived here. People also inquire about Ballard and Durand, after whom the funeral home is named. What better way to provide answers to these questions than with the heritage plaque,” says Matthew Fiorillo, owner. Ballard-Durand Staff Member “Makes Strides Against Breast Cancer”
On October 18, 2009, Johanna Estrella, a funeral director at Ballard-Durand Funeral and Cremation Services, will take part in the American Cancer Society’s “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” in New York’s Central Park. The event is one of several held across the United States to raise awareness and dollars to fight breast cancer. “According to the American Cancer Society, a woman’s chances for developing breast cancer in her lifetime are about one in eight. Given these statistics, nearly everyone in the United States will be affected by this disease in some way during their lifetime”, says Estrella. “I’ve seen both families we’ve served and personal friends affected, so I saw this as an opportunity to help fight the disease on their behalf.” Johanna’s personal fundraising goal for this event is $1,000. Ballard-Durand Funeral and Cremation Services is proud to support Johanna in her fundraising efforts. To sponsor Johanna and help her reach her goal, click here.
